Resentment and Retaliation ~ trust suspicion assumption blame denial |

a short while later, seeker heard screaming in the distance and recognized it as the voice of fear.... the voice of blame.
a voice that closely resembled seeker’s own.
seeker walked in that direction until he came upon a hole.
shining his small light into the hole, seeker found harmful railing and cursing and pounding on the wall. harmful did not see the steps against the wall ~ because there were none. harmful was the first to fall into this hole.
harmful jumped.... but was not high enough.
in his anger.... had no greater focus.
and in his hurry.... possessed no patience.
harmful demanded that seeker help him out immediately, but seeker was wary of harmful’s aggression ~ so just kneeled, looking down.
becoming more inflamed, harmful threatened seeker.... until finally exhausted, he leaned, glowering and panting against the wall. harmful thought awhile, then plead with seeker, “i’ll give you some of my light if you’ll get me out.”
“you don’t have any light.” seeker replied.
“then give me yours!” harmful frowned and lunged at seeker.
seeker continued to kneel and observe harmful, thinking now, even if he helped harmful out.... harmful might pull him in, attack him, and take his light. as harmful paced angrily below, seeker worried on his dilemma.
harmful cried out. “you don’t want to help me. you want to hurt me! you want me to suffer don’t you? you with your light. i trusted some one with a light before.... i trusted them to reach in and pull me out. but they let go and let me fall to the bottom again. then they stood at the top of the hole and laughed.... well, you won’t be laughing....”
enraged, harmful lunged again at seeker.
seeker stood and said: “i’m sorry for your past. it was wrong to laugh at you, mislead you, and make you feel inferior. i’d truly like to help you out of this hole, but rather.... i’ll tell you how to help your self. instead of clawing mindlessly at and widening the hole, redirect your focus and spend your time and energy building steps. then, you will be able to climb....” but, before seeker could finish, harmful was raging again:
“shut up! shut up! you don’t know anything! leave me alone, just leave me alone!”
so seeker did.
seeker turned.... and walked away.
