Fear ~ action reaction |
|
swept by the hysteria of so many sightless, lightless wanderers, seeker, too, ran shrieking ~ confused and blind along the path.
“we are doomed!” seeker wailed. “doomed!”
a great terror seized seeker as he recalled the voice of fear. “the ‘beast’! the end!” his mind raced as he contemplated the ravages of the near and mysterious unknown.
hysterical and disoriented, seeker crashed into other frightened travelers of the path. “the ‘beast’! the ‘beast’!” they shrieked. “i’ve been seized by the ‘beast’!” panic spread among the frightened like disease ~ like a great caustic cloud, enshrouding them, entrapping them within their desperation.
seeker smashed into what many believed to be the vague perimeters of the path, became entangled in his reaching as well as the desperate reaching of others.... tore his way loose and blundered on.
suddenly, seeker felt his self leave the path. his feet ~ without ground ~ his hands flailing in the void.
plucked.... delivered from his hysteria by the seemingly insatiable craving of the ‘beast’.
“i’ve been swallowed!” and he lashed.... helplessly out of control.
until
crashing into a heap at the bottom
